May 2010: American Support for Afghanistan, in partnership with the United States Armed Forces, distributed school supplies, clothes, toys and shoes to children living in Khairabad village in Neemrose, Afghanistan. The far southern province of Neemrose is difficult and dangerous to access, with the result that the poor and drought-affected population there has little access to foreign aid. With the help of the US Marines in Delaram district we were able to distribute relief items to a village that had never received help from the International Forces or NGOs. The village elders were planning to open a small school in their village and requested school supplies from the Marines. ASA was able to provide each child with school supplies, clothes, toys and a pair of shoes. We are continuing to work with the US Marines in the area and will organize more drives in the future. If you would like to get involved please contact us at info@asanonprofit.org.
